Why you have to taste Cooperativa Olivicoltori's Oil ?
Situated on a hill, near
Cimini Mounts, it offer some splendid panoramic vue . Beautiful the
medieval village, therefore wonderfully conserved: walking the narrow
alleys you can be acctracted in the same atmosphere, encircles from
noble palaces and characteristic angles to you. Lived from the Etruschi
and the Roman it endured, like other countries, multiple invasions and
pillages, favorites from the vicinity with Cassia street. For this
situation, around the Middle Ages, building came realized an encircled imposing,
just for the scope to discourage eventual attacks. The biggest encircled
did
not scare the powerful Viterbo, that combat against Vetralla for the
important land of tree donated to
Vetralla from Innocenzo III in 1206 They wanted at all costs to get hold of one
immense. Viterbo was but defeat, and still today it comes commemorated
that day with a festivity, the "Sposalizio of the Tree", during which
the Mayor of the city spouse a tree on Fogliano Mount. Vetralla
during
centuries it was subject to various local gentleman, as the Orsini, Of
Vico, the Anguillara and the Farnese. Thank's to gentleman Of Vico for the construction of Castle , in which the Giacomo son came
and then captured for
being beheaded to Soriano, and his sarcofago is still conserved in
the church of San Francesco. During the history of property of Vetralla was for some years subjected to the Apostolic Room, but it had with the
Papal State some controversies. It never agreed the Apostolic room, in fact, to accept the
outlandish demands for some presides that boasted the right of the "Ius
Primae Noctis", a strange law that would have concurred they to pass the
first night of wedding with the young spouses. It was therefore that,
during the vespri of 1493, the high promotore preside of the law came
killed from the citizens of Vetralla. The numerous discoveries
in its immediate vicinities make to think that the ancient Vetralla was in
origin a villanoviano Pagus. Fossa tumbs going back to VIII and VII
sec. B. C. have been in fact recovered to Cerracchio and Poggio Mounts.
The same localities accommodate moreover Etruscan tumbs to room and trap.
In the Etruscan period Vetralla it was one of the many takeovers scattered
in the zone. In its immediate vicinities, beyond to Norchia, we find
traces of takeovers in locality Porcina Cove (VII century to C.), Panese
Mount and Caiano Mount. |
